The End of Another School Year

Some small children squeal about nearing the start,
Taking the places of those far done.
Tears and smiles far and wide,
hugs and laughter.
Yearbooks get passed around, signed, and looked over,
They hold the precious memories made.
Heading home, dreaming of the future,
reminiscing about the classes we've done so far.
Math headaches,
hidden naps,
confusion about the need for these lessons,
and historical scenery filling our brains.
Most will return, beginning the next chapter.
Some will be gone, passing the crown to the next line.
A never-ending dynasty filled with kids,
working to the bone for an A or B.
Seasons come and go, trophies won or lost.
The end of another school year has come,
but it's never the end; it's the start of something new.
We hold these lessons, these memories, close as we move on.
